Hilfield Youth Camp Welcomes You
Who We Are
Hilfield Youth Camp takes place every August at Hilfield Anglican Franciscan Friary in Dorset (UK). Organised by experienced volunteers, HYC offers up to 50 young people aged 13 to 17 years the chance of a low cost, fun holiday in stunning surroundings, while exploring a Christian theme. This camp is built on friendship, community and faith.
Our campers say:
"It was AMAZING, it definitely changed my life for the better and I’m so glad I came. It’s led me to many friendships and has made me have a stronger belief in my faith, I can’t wait to be back!"
Life on Camp
What We Do
Worship
At HYC, worship is run by the campers for the campers. We hold daily worship sessions in the morning and evening which are all prepared by one of our camp groups, aided by a supportive bunch of adult leaders. Sometimes it is meditative and other times it is silly, but HYC worship sessions are always memorable!
Trips and Activities
Our afternoons on camp are filled with a variety of excursions including swimming, outdoor activity centres and trips to the local seaside. When we are not away from the Friary, we create our own fun with competitions such as The Great HYC Bake Off and art and music workshops.
Compline
This is the Brothers' night prayer service; a time of calm in the hustle of a busy day. It is a short service where each side of the chapel says or sings lines of a psalm. Many come to really value the reflective and peaceful nature of this traditional service.
Evening
The day doesn't end with our evening meal, we still have hours more of fun to go! Each day ends with an evening activity such as a quiz, film or games like giant monopoly and life-sized Cluedo. Every year one of our favourite events is the camp Barn Dance and we love to finish camp with a classic bonfire. Before bed we have just enough time for some hot chocolate and home-baked cakes while we stargaze.
