Safeguarding

Every person has a value and dignity

Every person has a value and dignity which comes directly from their creation in God’s own image and likeness. We see this potential as fulfilled by God’s re-creation of us in Christ. Among other things, this implies a duty to value all people as bearing the image of God and therefore to protect them from harm.

HYC is committed to:

  • Promoting a safer environment and culture.

  • Safely recruiting and supporting all those with any responsibility related to children, young people and vulnerable adults.

  • Responding promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation.

  • Caring pastorally for victims/survivors of abuse and other affected persons.

  • Caring pastorally for those who are the subject of concerns or allegations of abuse and other affected persons.

  • Responding to those that may pose a present risk to others.

To contact us about any safeguarding issue please get in touch with our Safeguarding Lead, Emily Robertson via our contacts page. Alternatively contact Hilfield Friary or Southwark Diocese using the 'Further contacts' section below.

We share the same policies as Hilfield Friary, the community in which we are hosted and our safeguarding comes under their umbrella and oversight. To view our safeguarding and other policies please go to the Hilfield Friary page below and follow the links at the bottom of their home page.
